PityMe Hot Honey
A passion project that got wildly out of hand. My wonderful Dad with a magnificent green thumb and one year we decided to grow hot peppers as a fun project. I honestly thought we’d get 5 peppers on each plant, and was hilariously wrong. We got dozens. A freezer full.
After many failed attempts at actual hot sauce that amounted to us unwittingly creating suburban pepper spray, we discovered making hot honey using infused dehydrated fruits and hot peppers. They tasted amazing, and created great heartfelt gifts for friends and family.
I designed the labels and packaging, created custom playlists for each flavour using Spotify specific QR codes, and had a blast spending time with my Dad tending the garden and watching the literal fruits of our labour grow.
This project is the product of an obsessive gardener and an obsessive designer, and is the hot honey equivalent of spending 4 hours to hand-make a half dozen bagels when you could have bought a dozen at the store for 99 cents.
