Lynne Hanson is a two time Canadian Folk Music award winner. For her 7th album “Just Words”, Lynne was interested in a Vinyl release with a little extra care. Working with the amazing photographers Rémi Theriault and Maryn Devine, and long time friend and collaborator Michael Zavacky, we took care and crafted a visual concept and approach that was quiet and contemplative, but intriguing.
The artwork is inspired by the provocative lyrics of the album title track which read “Sticks and stones can break your bones, but words they mold and make you”. The visual question and exercise then become, what do all the sticks and stones of your life look like if you line them up neatly to take stock? Can the short and broken pieces of a lifetime of verbal influence line up to create a portrait of something beautiful and interesting?
